I was a complete non-believer in spray tans, I’d never seen one that wasn’t orange, streaky or looked like the person had nicotine stained hands! This is why I’d never introduced spray tans as a service into the salon. So, when Sienna X wanted to come down to my salon and convince me I was very dubious. I put myself forward as the demo model along with my husband Jason from ‘Male Concept’ Gentlemen’s Grooming Salon,
I thought “if they could impress us it would be a miracle”.

“Oh my Goodness!” I was completely shocked that there was no horrible smell, and as soon as they had sprayed me I could have easily have gone shopping and no one would have known. Other tans I’d tried in the past leave you smelling awful and looking like you’ve been mud wrestling, but this one looked like I was already sun kissed. We went on with our normal busy Friday at the salon and that evening, after the eight hour developing time, washed it off. This I thought would be when we discovered streaks or extra orangey bits. But to my surprise it was completely even all over, even around our ankles and wrists. So, now I am looking for faults in the tan, my next target was the way the tan faded, as other tans had been all patchy and looking like you haven’t washed for months. To my delight it faded evenly and actually lasted longer than they had recommended.

Before Your Tan

• Exfoliate and moisturise the night before the tan (not on the day of the tan), paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles and problem dry areas.
• Paint nails and toenails, especially if they are acrylics or similar
• Wax/shave at least 24/48 hours prior to treatment.
  This allows the pores time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to.
• Do not moisturise or use skin lotions on the day of your tan.
• Remove make-up and deodorant before your tan

After Your Tan

• Wear dark loose clothing after your treatment. Tight clothing or underwear may cause marks.
• Wear flip-flops or loose fitting shoes.
• Do not shower or bathe for at least 8 hours (the development time).
• Do not exercise or swim during the development period.
• Try not to touch your skin during the development time. Top tip – if leaving on overnight wear loose socks over your hands in bed
• Pat dry after showering and use Sienna X products to prolong the life of your tan and to stay looking gorgeous.
